Aroha Bridge Season 2

‘Aroha Bridge’ is an animated snapshot of the multicultural melting pot that is Aotearoa.

Focusing on authentic, urban M?ori characters with humour and style, this webseries follows Kowhai and Monty Hook as they navigate the complex but hilarious circumstances growing up in a bicultural, eclectic whanau.   The extended Hook family are a micro society unto themselves – jock aunts, ex-All Black fathers, activist uncles and kooky cousins come together to create a multi-cultural medley that all young kiwi urbanites can relate to.

The series is voiced by a talented multi-racial and hilarious cast – Madeleine Sami, Frankie Stevens, Matai Smith, Scotty Cotter, Jessica Hansell, & Rizván Tu’itahi.

‘Aroha Bridge’ is built on the shoulders of ‘Hook Ups,’ a short animated series based on the comic strip of the same name, created by writer and musician Coco Solid (Jessica Hansell). Enjoying a cult following, the creators want to share the evolution with a larger audience by introducing more wh?nau members, including more reo and racial politics in small town suburb ‘Aroha Bridge’.

The series was produced by Piki Films Limited and launched agnostically on 4th July to tie in with Te Wiki O Te Reo M?ori, Maori Language Week. All six 5 minute episodes will be available immediately on Aroha Bridge’s facebook, youtube and various online platforms. Watch at arohabridge.com
